Child poverty and inequality

While income poverty has fallen following the rollout of the Child Support Grant, child poverty remains widespread and has long-term consequences for children. The Children’s Institute has a long track record of monitoring the socioeconomic situation of children and making evidence-based arguments for the improvement of policies, services and the expansion of social assistance programmes. This context forms the backdrop to much of our other work.
